As the temperature starts to drop, we all begin craving our favourite comfort foods to warm us up. In order to help expand your comfort food horizon, we’ve created a list of some favourites from varying restaurants here in Guelph.

Buon Gusto – Any of their pizzas!

Nothing screams comfort food quite like pizza. With that being said, Bon Gusto’s pizzas are an absolute must, as they are wood-fired and made with quality ingredients. If you have never been, Buon Gusto is located in the core of downtown Guelph, in the historic Gummer building. This stunning stone building sits over St.George’s Square. Their location is a perfect stop on a day trip or night out in Guelph.

Miijidaa – Pan Roasted Chicken

If you are craving the stereotypical Sunday night family dinner, but you (and everyone else in your family) are too tired to cook, this is what you need. The chicken is roasted to perfection and is complimented with marinated fingerling potatoes, prosciutto, smoked tomatoes, roasted corn, pesto + goat cheese cream sauce. This is a great restaurant to support as they are a certified B corporation, have raised over half a million dollars to put back into the community, and are completely carbon neutral

Pressed for Time Paninis – Everything on the menu is delicious!

Most of the time when comfort food is being discussed, we tend to think of dinner, but in my opinion, lunch needs to be included as well. Pressed for time paninis is THE perfect spot for a warm grilled panini, stuffed with great ingredients that will give you the energy to fight off the cold weather. On top of that, they are a local small business here in Guelph!

Royal Electric – Mac and Cheese Cheeseburger

If you are more into pub style comfort food, Royal Electric is where it’s at! Each night has a different special for you to save some money, which is important during the holiday shopping season. If you are looking to kill two comfort food cravings in one meal, try out their indulgent Mac and Cheese Cheeseburger!
